A lion’s roar can be heard from as far as 5 miles away

A good gauge of a male lion’s age is the darkness of his mane. The darker the mane, the older the lion. A lion’s heels don’t touch the ground when it walks. A lion may sleep up to 20 hours a day.

Crushed onion can be used for polishing of silverware and other metal objects.

Sliced onion can sooth insect bites and burns on the skin. When combined with crushed aspirin and little water, slices of onion can be also used in treatment of warts.

A lion can run for short distances at 50 mph and leap as far as 36 feet

Even though the lion is sometimes referred to as the “king of the jungle,” it actually only lives in grasslands and plains. The expression may have come from an incorrect association between Africa and jungles or may refer to a less literal meaning of the word jungle.

Leopard fun fact

Leopards are astoundingly strong. They are pound for pound the strongest of the big cats. They are able to climb trees, even when carrying heavy prey, and often choose to rest on tree branches during the day. One reason why leopards sometimes take their prey up in the trees is to ensure lions or hyenas can’t steal them.

Leopards are renowned for their agility

They run up to 58km/h and can leap 6m horizontally and 3m vertically.
They are also very strong swimmers. The leopard is the most elusive and secretive of the large felids. They are extremely difficult to trace and locate in the wild.

Like cats kept as companions, leopards will growl when angry and purr when content

Leopards are predominantly solitary animals that have large territories. While male territories are larger than females and tend to overlap, individuals usually only tolerate intrusion into ranges for mating. They mark their ranges with urine and leave claw marks on trees to warn others to stay away.

Great lion

The lion was once found throughout Africa, Asia and Europe but now exists only in Africa with one exception. The last remaining Asiatic lions are found in Sasan-Gir National Park in India, which was primarily created to protect the species. Currently, there are approximately 350-400 lions in the park.

WOW amazing animal.

African lions are the most social of all big cats and live together in groups or “prides.” A pride consists of about 15 lions. Male lions defend the pride’s territory while females do most of the hunting. Despite this, the males eat first.

Sliced Onions Poisonous? An Urban Myth!

So you've sliced an onion but only used half and want to store it in the fridge for later, but you've always heard that cut onions are bacteria traps that can become highly poisonous after just one night, developing a toxic bacteria that could cause a stomach infection or even food poisoning. Wrong! According to McGill University's Office of Science & Society (motto: "Separating Science From Nonsense"), this is an urban myth that needs to be dispelled. Onions, notes McGill, "are not especially prone to bacterial contamination."

Talk about old food.

Onions have been a part of the human diet for more than 7,000 years. Archeologists have discovered traces of onions dating back to 5000 B.C., found alongside stones from figs and dates in settlements from the Bronze Age.

The king of animals doesn’t bite that strong

A lion’s bite is 30 times stronger than the bite of a housecat. They actually have the weakest bite of all the big cats, at 600 psi. The jaguar has the strongest bite force of any big cat at 2000 psi. The animal with the strongest bite of all is the Nile crocodile at 5000 psi.[

Survive or die

Leopards have the widest range of habitats of all the big cats. This adaptability has allowed them to survive in various different geographic areas. Perhaps the most extreme example is the amazing snow leopard which lives in the Himalayas.

Do only humans have compassion???

During the National Geographic programme ‘Eye of the Leopard’, a wild leopard killed a baboon in order to feed herself. However upon noticing an infant baboon clinging to the dead baboon, the leopard amazingly carried the infant up to the safety of the tree to guard her from hyenas. She groomed and cuddled the baby throughout the night, caring for him/her as she would her own cub.

I want a lions life

A lion can sleep aboutt 20 hours a day a lion eats about 18 pounds of meat per day. That would be like a human eating more than 70 hamburgers. Who wouldn’t want this kind of life.

Two thousand years ago, over a million lions roamed throughout regions that covered Europe, Syria, Israel, Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, and India. In the 1940s, lions numbered 450,000. Today, there are as few as 32,000 on Earth
